As
a former Fine Art graduate of Liverpool John Moores, I undertook this
documentary project to record the activities, atmosphere and
architecture during the last academic year in which all four
School of Art & Design buildings
were used before the relocation of the School to the brand
new Liverpool Academy of Art & Design. After being
'home'
to generations of students, the following buildings were sold:
2A
Myrtle Street (Fine Art), 68 Hope Street (Art & Design), the
Hahnemann building, 42 Hope Street (Art & Design) and Clarence
Street (Architecture).
The archive handed over to JMU consists of four A3 sketchbooks and
three scrolls (featuring panoramic drawings): a total
of 95
drawings and about 17,000 words, all
created in situ and without correction. Access to the archive is by
application to Special Collections and Archives
at the Aldham Robarts Library.
A selection of these drawings were exhibited as the solo exhibition
'Lines of Perception' at the Unity Theatre in 2009, and was recommended
in a review by Nerve magazine. |
